MISSION & HISTORY
Axiom NW is a general contractor that embraces the challenges inherent to the process of commercial construction. Founded in 2008, Axiom NW has over 15 years of specialized experience with healthcare specific design and construction. Axiom NW excels in a variety of projects, from medical facilities to mixes use properties.
Axiom NW actively problem solves, leveraging our experiences and pushes for efficiencies with the goal of saving the team money, delays, and project headaches. Staying positive and flexible comes with an experience that pays dividends.
New jurisdictions can be a challenge, our success advocating for our client’s projects is helped by fostering and encouraging a team effort behind the goal and intent of the project. After requests from our clients, we traveled from Washington to Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, and Missouri. This experience allows us to enter any new locale with confidence.
Successfully closing complicated jobs and navigating challenging jobs sites is just one attribute of our company. Our talented team of project managers and support staff work closely with our field superintendents and site teams to deliver quality buildings on time and budget. This is coupled with constant company leadership, staying involved and being accessible to all members of the team. We believe this level of support is one of Axiom NW’s greatest strengths.
LEADERSHIP
James Buchanan
Founder
James has been in the construction industry since 1985 and surrounded himself with like-minded carpenters to start his company. Next, he built a team of employees and subcontractors that are accustomed to the unique and sometimes very immediate needs of healthcare facilities. True to James’ vision, Axiom NW has grown into a company known for the ability to deliver clinics that are beautiful and functional with special attention to the needs of all parties involved from Owners & Developers to end users with respect to quality & budget.
Mark Mueller
Executive Vice President Field Operations Manager
Mark brings over 35 years of carpentry, concrete, and steel experience to every project along with a love of how things are built. His knowledge is essential and his extensive experience in high-end residential construction and commercial structural work helps resolve seemingly impossible challenges confronting certain projects. His love of construction and all its elements is infectious and easily captures an Owner’s drive for more complex structures on tight budgets. Making the impossible possible with respect to the bottom line comes naturally to Mark and Axiom’s vision.
Kim Hamilton

After earning a degree in Accounting, Kim has spent her 30 year career in construction accounting and business management. Her expertise lies in financial management of projects in excess of $170 million, and companies of $25+ million. She has established new systems and processes essential to our growth and continues to lead us forward toward success.
GET TO KNOW THE TEAM
We have a great group of people that contribute to the success of Axiom NW every day. We invite you to get to know them!
SAFETY
At Axiom NW, we hold safety in high regard for anyone involved in our projects and is one of our core values. Keeping people safe is critical to a successful project and something we take seriously. Early on in James’ career, a superintendent realized James’ harness was fit incorrectly and stopped the work in progress to refit his harness.
That simple act drove home that safety is more than a requirement but underpins the field crew’s feeling of solidarity. As a result, our safety policy is guided by this principle and is structured to ensure the health and safety of our project to everyone on our job sites.
Safety planning starts in the pre-construction phase with a site-specific safety plan for each project with that team’s input. We believe responsible safety flows from the top down. Training starts there and continues through the duration of the project, extending from our internal team to our external team of subcontractors, and flows out to each person that enters our job sites.
Safety is more than following the rules. Safety is about a mindset of respect for yourself and your fellow team members. This attitude is reflected in the quality of the finished product.
